After the departure of the Discovery Science film crew, there was time for some science with Amanda Oehlert, the soon-to-be BME post doc. Amanda has been awarded a fellowship from Agouron Institute, and will begin her work as a post doc with Bahamas Marine EcoCentre in January 2017. We took advantage of her trip to Darby for the filming to collect samples in the salt ponds and stromatolites! Amanda’s work will focus on rare earth elements in microbial deposits of the Bahamas and Shark Bay.
