2015 Alf Thompson Memorial Scholarship Interns announced, June, 2015

Giselle Deane  and Tyler Knowles spent one month at the Bimini Biological Field Station in summer 2015, working with other interns from around the world as well as numerous PhD scientists.  Giselle (age 21) studied Environmental Science at Acadia University in Canada and just completed her degree in Environmental Science.  Giselle has wanted to work at the Shark Lab since learning about it several years earlier.  She remarked “my ultimate goal when I went to Canada to study environmental science was that I would return to the country that I grew up in and contribute to the protection of the ocean that I love.  This is an amazing opportunity to work in my desired field”.   Giselle is looking forward to gaining valuable hands-on experience with what she calls ‘some of the most awe inspiring and important animals in Bahamian waters’.
